Internships
The Commission occasionally seeks exceptional, motivated, and committed area graduate and undergraduate students to assist in a variety of meaningful community initiatives or research projects to enhance program development, implementation, or facilitation. Fall, Spring, and Summer internships available. Regrettably, the Commission is unable to compensate interns. To inquire about current opportunities, call 617.349.4697 or email us.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Cambridge Commission on the Status of Women is not currently seeking volunteers. However, the following organizations may be:
Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC)
BARCC is the only rape crisis center in the Greater Boston area and the oldest and largest such center in Massachusetts. Their vision is to end sexual violence through healing and social change. BARCC assists thousands of sexual violence survivors and their families, friends and communities each year, regardless of sex, gender identity, race, physical/developmental disabilities, income, ethnicity, class, religion, or sexual orientation.
Cambridge Women’s Center
Provides women with the resources and support they need to emerge from conditions of domestic violence, sexual abuse, poverty, discrimination, social isolation, and degradation and seeks to challenge and change the attitudes, actions, and institutions that subjugate women.
Community Learning Center
Provides free services to Cambridge residents. They serve adults who need basic education, English language and employment skills.
The Guidance Center
Provides comprehensive developmental, mental health and family support services to Cambridge and Somerville children, including the youngest and most vulnerable, in respectful partnership with their families and our community colleagues.
On The Rise
Reaches and assists nearly 300 of the most highly marginalized and socially isolated women in our community annually. OTR uses a relational model designed to offer respect, dignity, connection, information, guidance and hope to women who have fallen through the cracks of our social service system.
R.O.A.D. Reaching Out About Depression
A community-based program created by and for women in low-income neighborhoods who are suffering with depression and its related issues. All services are offered free-of-charge.

Works toward the prevention and cessation of domestic violence (DV) through education, outreach and intervention.
